About The SHINE Partnership

The SHINE Partnership is a federation of Surrey schools working in close
partnership in order to raise standards, with some degree of shared governance. The Education Act 2002 made provisions for
schools working together to create collective agreements which generate a focal point for the development of education, health
and well being for the children and young people in the area.
The
Shine partnership leads the way in demonstrating how schools
can work together for the benefit of both the pupils and
the local community.
As devolved funding gives school managers greater responsibility
and choice in how to use their budgets to the greatest effect; this cluster of Surrey schools is endeavouring to get the most
cost-effective and efficient support from the education services and other agencies.
By
working in partnership we reduce bureaucracy, share resources and facilitate easier communication between schools, families
and support staff.
The Education Bill states that it "aims to spread excellence and
give schools the freedom and incentives they need to work in partnership with other schools and the wider education service
to enable every pupil's talents to be developed to the full."
SHINE is a 'Learning Network'
A
network focussed on learning is one in which a group of school join together to plan, implement and monitor a range of activities
that will enhance learning and teaching within and across schools. The schools in the network achieve much more than if they
work in isolation.
